In mid-2026, Hutchinson’s supplied and installed a SprayFlex Ultimate retractable spray booth at Collins Aerospace’s South Ayrshire site.
The site already had large indoor spray booths but needed additional capacity. The new outdoor booth measures 7m × 7m × 4m and connects to the existing extraction system. It extends when needed for spraying and retracts against the building afterwards, allowing the outdoor space to be used for other activities.
With its existing spray facilities operating at capacity, Collins Aerospace needed another area to support production.
Installing a permanent booth would have required lengthy construction and would have taken up outdoor space the site needed for other uses. The team required a solution that could accommodate spraying without permanently occupying the area.
The booth needed to provide a 7m × 7m × 4m spray area outside the building and connect to the site’s existing extraction system. It also had to retract when spraying was finished, freeing up the space around it.
We designed, manufactured and installed a SprayFlex Ultimate retractable spray booth to suit the available space.
The booth connects to the building’s existing extraction system, avoiding the need for a separate extraction installation. Its wheeled frame allows it to extend away from the building for spraying, then retract back against it when no longer needed.
The installation gives Collins Aerospace an additional spray area alongside its existing indoor facilities.
The retractable design means the outdoor space can serve more than one purpose. Once spraying is finished and the booth is retracted, the area becomes available for other site activities.
