Like many busy joinery workshops, their facility generates a significant amount of dust from cutting, sanding and preparation work. While this is unavoidable during production, dust and high-quality paint finishes do not mix.
At the same time, Contract Joinery Services was outsourcing its spray coating, creating additional transport costs, delays and the risk of finished products being damaged in transit.
They needed a solution that would allow them to separate dusty workshop processes from clean finishing operations and bring spray coating back in-house.

Dust generated during preparation work was travelling throughout the workshop, including into areas where a clean environment was essential for coating and finishing.
To create a clearer separation between workshop processes, the workshop needed to be divided into dedicated working zones, keeping dusty preparation work away from cleaner finishing operations.
However, dust control was only part of the problem.
Because spray coating was being carried out off-site, products had to be transported between facilities for finishing. Unfortunately, finished products were sometimes being damaged during transport, resulting in wasted materials, additional work, delays and unnecessary costs.
Contract Joinery Services wanted to remove this problem by bringing its coating process back on-site.
The goal was to create a more efficient production process within the existing workshop.

The solution also needed to work within the existing workshop without unnecessarily taking up valuable floor space.
We installed a SprayFlex Pro retractable spray booth alongside a SlidaCurtain sliding curtain system.
The workshop curtain created a physical division between the dusty preparation area and the finishing area. By introducing a flexible curtain, Contract Joinery Services could better control dust movement and create clearly defined working zones without constructing a permanent internal wall.
Our sliding curtain system also meant the space could remain flexible, allowing the workshop layout to adapt when required.
Alongside the workshop divider, we installed a retractable spray booth to provide a dedicated area for on-site spraying.
Unlike a permanent spray enclosure, the retractable design allows the booth to extend when coating work is underway and to retract when it is no longer required, helping the business make better use of its available workshop space.
This type of mobile spray booth solution gives businesses greater flexibility while still providing a controlled environment for spray coating.
Together, the retractable spray booth and industrial workshop curtain gave Contract Joinery Services the separation it needed to carry out preparation and finishing processes within the same facility.
By bringing spray coating in-house, Contract Joinery Services has streamlined its production process and reduced its reliance on external finishing facilities.
Products no longer need to leave the workshop for coating, helping to reduce transport costs, delays and the risk of damage in transit.
The new retractable spray booth provides a dedicated environment for coating timber products, while the sliding workshop curtain helps separate the finishing area from dust-generating preparation work.
The result is a more organised, flexible and efficient workshop layout that allows more of the production process to take place under one roof.
